Such a lovely Italian gem! Incredible welcoming and friendly staff through the whole service.
The food?? Amazing!
The best calamari that I had in a long time! Pasta?? Yes please! The funghi pasta was above and beyond. I the kind of person who always add some salt/paper to bring up the flavours, but this one was just perfect as it was!
The tiramisu we took at home once the serves are well served.
Looking forward to go back to try the other items and check out the rooftop upstairs - Iβve hear good thing about it..
See you soon team!
Keep up with the amazing job that you are doing β€οΈ
Absolutely loved it here. Great menu great service great food. The salad and broccoli sides were so Yummo. The marinara is a small portion but delicious. The bruschetta was interesting. Highly recommend and we would definitely return. Fairly priced
Your friendly neighbourhood Italian joint. A Thornbury icon. Perfect place to pair your carbs with more carbs. I keep coming back for the carbonara and the tiramisu. Great selection of cocktails. Attentive staff. Cute interior. Head up to their rooftop bar, Gigi, when Melbourne's sun finally makes an appearance.

REVIEW:
My favourite pasta at Umberto Espresso Bar was the Pasta fatta in casa; the spaghetti al nero is a special which makes me so sad to know it'll disappear one day!
The spanner crab is combed really well through the pasta, so it's slightly sweet with every bite. The bottarga were little salty fishball roes, again adding so much flavour.
I also like the fried rosemary potatoes. They had little scraggly bits that became super crispy, and I lived for those moments!
Apart from that, Epocha in CBD still has my favourite tiramisu.
Service was pretty decent with friendly smiles. Apart from introducing the menu, there wasn't much interaction apart from that.
Been a number of times and always makes me a happy man - last night enjoyed sitting at the bar, watching the place hum while eating the most beautiful tiger prawn ravioli, cooked to perfection in a sauce that came from heaven. (A special) Bloody fantastic pasta, place and people - please keep doing it to me. Love it. M a great place for a date. Not that I was on a date.
Such an awesome place.
If your looking for an awesome italian experience, you have to stop by.
The food quality is really amazing. Coffee was perfect.
We had a late booking and they made room for us out the back. We were not forgotten about even though we were out of the way for staff(which can happen at some places).
The staff were also really good. They were perfectly coordinated in taking orders, clearing plates, serving starters and getting mains out at literally the perfect time. The whole operation is a perfectly well oiled machine of delicious italian cuisine.
It might seem like i work there at this point but the staff were funny but completely professional at the same time.
Lastly the food.. unbelievable. Delicious and fresh. The type of meal which makes you look around the table in disbelief after the first bite.
Thanks for the experience. Will definitely be back.
When I eat here, I get transported back to Italy. I love this place. Food is not just great, itβs exceptional and simple. The flavours are unique because the quality of the ingredients are so good and so fresh, amazing wine list too, and staff are excellent, especially Sarah. Come here, you wonβt regret it.
Was lovely to sit down and watch the world go by, people watching, happy chappies laughing, smiling and chattering away, truly the vibe and atmosphere today was amazing and infectious! β€οΈ
